Bored with the urban grind, I ventured north to explore the cattle business in the picturesque landscapes of Northern Ghana—specifically Tamale, Nyankpala, Walewale, Bolgatanga, Zebilla, Bawku, and Pusiga. Along the way, I immersed myself in the vibrant culture of various villages, seeking a deeper understanding of life’s intricacies.
During these encounters, I couldn’t ignore the challenges faced by the resilient women in these communities, particularly in selling their shea butter. Their struggle struck a chord, prompting me to take action. Out of compassion, I purchased all the shea butter they had in stock, intending to share it with loved ones back home.
But this act of kindness sparked a realization—a realization that I could do more to empower these women and contribute to their livelihoods. Thus, the idea of UZURI was born. I made the decision to invest in their production process, providing financial support to ensure quality shea butter for exportation.
Serendipitous encounters during my village stops solidified my resolve to leave behind my conventional career and fully commit to this new adventure—UZURI, the shea fruit butter business.
In collaboration with the talented women of these villages, we proudly named our endeavor “UZURI,” meaning “Beauty,” reflecting the essence of our work. Beyond mere entrepreneurship, our products embody a commitment to natural beauty and empowerment.
